The Group

Vila Galé is one of the largest hotel groups in Portugal and ranks in the top 250 hotel companies in the world. The group is comprised of various associations, of which the largest and most important is VILA GALÉ - Sociedade de Empreendimentos Turísticos, S.A. (Association of Tourism Enterprises). Founded in 1986, it is one of the top rated companies in Portugal, and its activities include the management of all the hotels in the group. The company is also involved in the development of other projects and in the construction of new tourism ventures.
The Vila Galé group is currently responsible for the management of 22 hotels: 17 in Portugal - Algarve, Beja, Cascais, Ericeira, Estoril, Lisbon, Coimbra, Oporto and Madeira - and 5 in Brazil - Fortaleza, Salvador, Guarajuba, Pernambuco and Angra dos Reis - with a total of 10,830 beds.
The group still has two new hotel units in Project phases on national territory, the Vila Galé Sintra and the Vila Galé Tejo.
On April 1st, Vila Galé inaugurated its latest unit, the Vila Galé Coimbra Hotel, based on a ‘Leisure & Conference’ concept geared to cater for both the business and the leisure travel segments.
Following this, in October, Vila Galé Cumbuco in Brazil will be opened (in Ceará state).
Vila Galé currently employs around 2,400 people, and a great part of the group's success is due to the close links that exist between all the staff. They are a cohesive team with a strong passion for tourism and hospitality.
The capital investment in Vila Galé S.A. is all Portuguese, and is divided between José Silvestre Lavrador, Maria Helena Jorge, FCR - Fundo de Capital de Risco da caixa Geral de Depósitos, and Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, who is Chairman of the Administrative Board. The company also has holdings in Vila Galé Gest, S.A., the association that manages the Vila Galé Real Estate Investment Fund.
